Frequently asked questions

What sizes should a favicon be?

16 and 32 pixels for browser tabs, 16/32/48 pixels inside favicon.ico, a 180-pixel Apple touch icon for the iPhone home screen, and 192 and 512-pixel icons for Android and PWAs. The tool generates all of them.

How do I add a favicon to my site?

Upload the files from the ZIP to your site's root folder and paste the HTML code from the tool into your page's <head>. In systems like WordPress you can also use the "Site Icon" setting.

Why isn't my favicon updating?

Browsers cache favicons for a long time. Open the page in a private window or clear the browser cache to see the new icon.

My logo isn't legible at small sizes. What should I do?

Use only the symbol or initial of your logo, remove fine details and keep the contrast high. The 16-pixel preview helps you check legibility.
