Frequently asked questions
Why are GIF files large?
GIF is an old format that stores every frame as a separate image. To make the file smaller, shorten the clip, lower the width to 360 or 480 pixels, or drop the frame rate to 10–12 fps.
Why are GIF colors less vivid than the video?
GIF can use at most 256 colors per frame. Scenes with smooth gradients may show slight banding; that's a limit of the format.
Why 20 seconds at most?
Long GIFs make very large files and load slowly on most platforms. For longer clips, sharing the video as MP4 works better.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Frames are read in your browser and the GIF is created on your device.
