Frequently asked questions

Can I crop a photo without losing quality?

Cropping cuts pixels without resizing them, so PNG output is lossless. JPG and WEBP output is re-saved at high quality (92%).

Which ratio should I use for a profile picture?

Instagram, LinkedIn, X and WhatsApp profile pictures are uploaded as squares (1:1) and shown as circles. Circle crop lets you check the result in advance.

Why are the corners of a circle crop transparent?

Everything outside the circle is left transparent, so circle crops are always saved as PNG. JPG doesn't support transparency.

I need to crop for several social media sizes.

To crop one image to Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and X sizes at once, use the Social Media Image Resizer.
