What's the difference between PNG and JPG?
PNG uses lossless compression and supports transparency; it suits logos, icons and screenshots but makes photos large. JPG is the most common photo format; it keeps files small and opens everywhere, but it doesn't support transparency.
Does converting PNG to JPG reduce quality?
JPG uses lossy compression. With quality between 85 and 92 the difference is barely visible; lower values make smaller files but lose more detail.
What happens to a transparent background?
JPG doesn't support transparency. Transparent areas in your PNG image are filled with the color you choose (white by default). Use PNG or WEBP to keep transparency.
